Please join ECCSS in commemorating Juneteenth!
On June 19, 1865, Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas with the news that the more than 250,000 enslaved Black people in the state were free. This day came to be known as #Juneteenth, now officially a federal holiday.
Want to celebrate and learn more about Juneteenth? Take a trip online to the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History & Culture!

A month ago, we had an exciting visit from Larry Saylor, a representative of the Evans County Wildlife Club! He showed our students a snake and shared fascinating facts about these amazing creatures. It's a wonderful reminder of the fun and learning experiences we had as we continue to explore and enjoy wildlife this summer! 🌞🌿📚

Writing fun was in the air during our annual Spring Writing Celebration at the Evans County Public Fishing Area (PFA)! Winners from our K-12 district writing contests were definitely in their "Writer Era" as they competed in a series of events, including a Getting to Know You Found Writing Challenge, Fearless Fin Tales, Mad Libs, Heart Pumping and Ideas Flowing, Casting Fish Tales, Lunch Lotto, Writing Remix, Story Rocks, Dice, and Critters, and a Bubble Wand Challenge. Throughout the day, our students also worked to demonstrate their Seven Mindset (social emotional learning) and 4C (communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking) skills. We are thankful to our students, staff, community volunteers, and the Evans County PFA for making this celebration possible! #WeLoveOurTigerWriters #CelebrateOurStudents #SpringWritingCelebration2024
