🎄✨ Creative Cheer from Our CMS Visual Arts Students! ✨🎄 This holiday season, our 6th-8th grade visual arts students had the honor of contributing to the Georgia Department of Education Christmas tree! 🎨🖌️ Students showcased their creativity by designing and crafting four different types of ornaments, then selecting one special ornament to send to Atlanta. CHS MAP Testing is 1/8 and 1/9 with a makeup day on 1/10. Students will receive rewards based on their MAP performance but in order to be eligible for the rewards students must take the test on the original days. Students will be able to earn a free 100 to be used on a formative assessment for their Lexile score as well as additional food rewards for meeting their progress goal on the ELA and Math portions of the test. #TigersMakingProgress #MAPGoals #LexileScores #TigerPride

Check out these locally grown Satsuma oranges being served in Evans County Schools. 🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊 These Satsuma oranges were grown by Usher Southern Citrus in Lyons. The Evans County Schools School Nutrition program participates in the Local Food to Schools Program. This program provides funds for participating school nutrition programs to purchase food directly from Georgia farmers. Usher Farms has been located in Lyons, GA since 1923. Through the generations, the farm has transitioned into a greenhouse grown vegetable transplant operations and citrus farm. Randy Usher and his wife, Kaye, started a small greenhouse operation in 1989. Since then, they have expanded to operating 23 greenhouses, two high tunnels, and a 13-acre citrus farm with their son, Travis Usher. Travis, along with his father, Randy, planted 2 acres of Satsuma oranges in 2019. The citrus farm has now expanded to 13 acres and includes production of Cara Cara (navel oranges), Shiranui, Meyer Lemons, Pink Frost Grapefruit, and Tangerines. Travis and his wife, Pamela, are the leaders in the citrus operations. Travis is a 4th generation farmer on land owned and operated by the Usher family. His wife assists in the everyday operations as well as maintaining off farm work as a respiratory therapist. They currently live on the farm with their three children. The goal of Usher Southern Citrus is to deliver the freshest, tree-to-table locally grown citrus.

The Miss CMS and Miss CHS Pageants will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at 6:30 pm in the CMS/CHS cafetorium. This year's theme is "Beauties on the Bayou". ❄️ STEM Snowball Fight in Mr. Sapp’s Class! ❄️ While everyone is watching the forecast for snow, Mr. Sapp’s class brought the snowstorm indoors with a STEM-themed Snowball Fight! ☃️ As part of their review on States of Matter, students faced off in this fun and educational activity. "Frozen" students could only rejoin the action by answering review questions from a Gimkit led by student facilitators.
