Recently CHS hosted the Annual Claxton-Evans Chamber of Commerce banquet. For this special event, many capable and talented people transformed the high school cafetorium into a lovely dining hall. One of those individuals was senior Lainey Phillips who offered her talent in floral arranging to help create centerpieces for the various tables. In the past months, Lainey’s talent has been linked with experience through her Work-Based Learning placement with The Flower Girl in Statesboro. Her supervisor tells us that Lainey has blossomed in her role at the floral shop, and she has gained experience in every aspect of the business. This foundation has been invaluable for the future Lainey has planned in floristry! CHS can’t wait to see how your career unfolds. We are so proud of you! #TheDEN #TigersBuildingSuccess

Everybody start your engines…your lawnmower engines, that is! The lawn care season has arrived once again! If you purchase a mower from Quik-Kut, Inc. in Claxton, there is a good chance that our very own CHS senior, Ivan Trejo, helped prepare it for action. Ivan’s Work-Based Learning placement is with Quik-Kut, and there he enjoys a variety of hands-on responsibilities. His supervisor says that Ivan is very capable and mechanically inclined, and he has been a great addition to their team. Ivan’s future plan is to join the workforce, possibly in the construction field. He also is considering joining a branch of the military. We know you will make your mark whatever you choose to do! CHS is cheering you on, Ivan! #TheDEN #WorkBasedLearning #BlackAndGoldBuildingSuccess

When you’re out and about in town, see if you can spot some of these new signs at local businesses and organizations. We at CHS are beyond grateful for the community support that our school and its programs receive from local business people and community leaders. This school year alone, we partnered with over 50 different employers for our students, with almost all of them being local to Claxton-Evans County. Here junior Allie Floyd presents a sign to Mrs. Lanette Tippins of Southern Family Medicine. Allie’s Work-Based placement for the 23-24 school year has been with this office, and it has been a wonderful experience. We appreciate Mrs. Tippins, Dr. Miller, and all who have come alongside us at CHS WBL this year. #TheDEN #TigersBuildingSuccess
