The Georgia School Boards Association (GSBA) and Governor Brian Kemp have designated March 11-15 as "School Boards Appreciation Week" for the state of Georgia! We appreciate our Evans County Board of Education (BOE), and we are grateful for all they do on behalf of our students, staff, families, and community! Please help ECCSS recognize and celebrate our BOE!

Congratulations to the ECCSS students who earned “top spots” in the Evans County Wildlife Club Writing Competition: Madalyn Jackson (6th grade, 1st place), Emmie Stanfield (7th grade, 3rd place), Abigail Griffin (9th grade, 1st place), Miya Herrington (9th grade, 3rd place), and Joanna Brown (12th grade, 2nd place). These top finishers were recognized at the Evans County Wildlife Festival on Sunday. We are thankful to our friends at the Evans County Wildlife Club for hosting this annual event! Huge thanks to our 6-12 science teachers, students, instructional coaches, and admin for all they poured into this year’s competition! The CHS Beta Club sponsored its first annual Say Yes to the Dress event last week. Over 130 prom dresses were donated to the club, allowing the CHS young ladies the opportunity to find a dress of their choice for prom. The event was a success, with 21 young ladies securing a dress for prom. The Beta Club plans to continue this event each year. If you would like to donate a dress, CHS Beta Club accepts dresses on an on-going basis, and they will be used at next year's event. #BlackAndGold #MakingMemories #Tradition

Claxton Middle School celebrated Read Across America Week...let's look back at the amazing activities we enjoyed: 1. Students recommended their top reads. 📚 Many discovered new favorites! 2. Students were invited to dress for a different theme each day. 3. Discovered SORA: We dove into our digital reading platform. It's been like having a library at our fingertips! 📲 4. Students learned how to find books in the media center using Destiny Discover on their Chromebooks. 🔍 5.Students learned to email Mrs. Durrence, our media specialist, with book requests. 💌 She's excited to help everyone find their next great read. 6. Tic Tac Toe Library Book Search: We participated in a book search activity, and names were drawn for prizes throughout the day. 🏆 Congrats to all our winners! It's been a fantastic week of literary exploration and discovery. CHS Soccer fans, the matches against Jenkins High School on Friday, March 8 will be played at Islands High School at 170 Whitemarsh Island Rd Savannah 31410. Girls start at 5PM, and boys follow at 7PM. #BlackAndGold

Coach Lanier's students used context clues to learn new vocabulary. Students worked independently to gather predictions about the words' meanings and then collaborated with classmates to see similarities and differences and evaluate reasoning. #BlackAndGoldBuildingSuccess
